I learned to handle fabric and yarn as a small child alongside my mother who was a tailor and seamstress working from home. A visual cornucopia of colour, shape and texture prevailed. After a working life with children and adult services I have returned with passion to exploring my fascination for natural objects, relishing the spontaneity of shape and colour found on the cliff and seashore – a stem of gorse, ribbon of seaweed, tendril of heather. Each can be used to enhance and inform my work. The set of a roof in a collection of buildings with one small chink of light or shadow………. so much to inform my creative juices into making felt, knitted/felted pieces, weaving and spinning yarn, tearing, cutting, smoothing and shaping cloth……and so much more. Together with Jenny Annely we form the raveled sleave, and work primarily from our studio in Treen Chapel, St Levan. ‘the raveled sleave’
